It used to be more that way, a century ago.  But so many things were different then.

Most of the paranoia appears (rightfully) centered on the *illegal* immigration issue,
which to this outsider seems surreal in ways.  The lawnessness, the inherent black
market, ghettoization are all reasonable concerns.

The H1B appears to be a more straightforward economic protectionism matter.</description>
